About Setlabotjha Primary School
Setlabotjha Primary School was established in 1992 and located on an informal settlement called EATONSIDE on the fringes of EVATON
In the beginning, EATONSIDE, like many Informal Settlement of its kind in South Africa, did not have any Public amenities, including schools. As the Settlement grew, and the number of school going children increased, the need for a school building became critical.
In 1992, parents in EATONSIDE established a school for their children. This marked the beginning of Setlabotjha Primary School. Following the unavailability of building to accommodate learners. Setlabotjha Primary School was allocated vacant classrooms at MONTSOSI PRIMARY SCHOOL across the railway line from EATONSIDE, in SEBOKENG.
The SGB therefore applied for funding for the construction of the school from DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. The former MEC FOR TRANSPORT AND PUBLIC WORKS in GAUTENG, MR KHABISI MOSONKUTU makes the provision for the construction of the 1st phase of Setlabotjha Primary School.
The school is a welcome relief to the Community of Eatonside as the School is within walking distances for all learners. As the settlement grew, the number of learners enrolled at the school increased correspondingly. Total enrolment for this year is standing at just over a thousand. This includes children enrolled at a pre-school section of Setlabotjha Primary School
